How to Save Files in UTF-8 Format Follow

Introduction

Any files which contain either Logographic characters (such as Japanese) or Cyrillic characters (such as Russian) need to be saved in UTF-8 format. This allows Excel to preserve the characters, which then allows for their format to be maintained when imported into the platform.

Some older versions of Excel do not have the option to save in UTF-8 format. This is important when importing leads via CSV, and importing Validation Lists on to the platform, as any special characters in the file will only be preserved in UTF-8 format. We will run through the options for older systems below.

  1. Right click the file and select 'Open With Notepad'
  2. Click File
  3. Click Save As
  4. In the 'Save As' dialogue, click the Encoding drop down
  5. Select the 'UTF-8' option
  6. Click Save

3. Select UTF-8 from the dropdown. Make sure file is still .csv in the name.
